The barbecue, held in Springvale, was already planned before he went missing, but became quite the perfect place to celebrate his rescue.
Mr Holding, who was found last week after a dramatic two days missing at Mt Feathertop, greeted members and spoke candidly to those who attended.
At his press conference last week, Mr Holding told his tale of survival in freezing conditions after falling down the side of the mountain.
“As I fell down the mountain I thought I was going to die,” Mr Holding said.
“At one stage I was going down head first.
“But once I stopped I realised that I had enough food and clothing to get me through.”
He thanked those who spent hours searching during the rescue mission,
Having survived the ideal with only a few cuts and bruises, Mr Holding said he would much rather talk about government policy rather than what he got up to on the weekend.
