Industry takes a swing for charity

A MASSIVE $35,000 was raised at the inaugural Greater Dandenong/ Industry Take A Swing for Charity golf day at the Sandhurst Club.
More than 60 golfers stayed for some fine fare, good networking and the auction – which itself raised around $6000.
Proceeds will allow the Greater Dandenong Food Alliance to invest in cool room equipment and other essentials to ensure a greater quantity of food can be rescued, stored and distributed to the community.
South East Business Network manager Sandra George said she was pleased with the support the event received.
“Thanks to everyone who participated and supported this event in any way and all logos will be put on one big board that will go on display at the Avocare Distribution Centre in Dandenong,” she said.
“Special thanks to gold sponsors, Gelpack Enterprises and their sister company, Foamco who not only initiated this event, but were instrumental in its success with their drive and commitment. Thanks to Grenda Corporation (Silver sponsor) and The Australian Rail Manufacturers Group (Bronze) for stepping forward with their support.”
The Grenda Team, made up of Chris O’Sullivan, Rick Minney, Brian Hebblethwaite and Steve MacKenzie, came first.
Second prize went to Gelpack/Foamco team of Andrew Cain, Gerald Mead, Russell Shields and Matt Lester.
Third prize went to Gelpack/Foamco team of Rod Andrews, Kevin Winterton, Geoff Smith and Ross Mackintosh.
The putting competition was won by Owen Walsh of the ARM Group. Due to the success of this year’s event a similar event will be planned for 2010.
