Songs fight road toll

By Bridget Cook
DESMOND Kelly hopes his latest campaign is instrumental in raising awareness about road safety in Australia.
The Dandenong North resident has written and recorded two songs about road safety in a bid to try and help “curtail the carnage on our roads”.
The songs ‘It’s You’ and ‘Let’s Keep Death Off Our Roads’ both have strong road safety messages.
Mr Kelly said the campaign has gone ahead in leaps and bounds and that the two recordings have now been featured on community radio.
He said Crime Stoppers has shown interest in the songs and the awareness campaign and many local schools have copies.
“I am sure that if our campaign can save even one life on the roads then our effort would be well worthwhile,” he said.
“None of us involved in the road safety campaign has anything to gain except the satisfaction of a job well done for our community and the public in general.”
Mr Kelly said he now hoped major radio stations would pick up the songs to help push road safety in the community.
