Rangers struggle for form

DANDENONG suffered its fifth straight WNBL defeat when it succumbed to Adelaide on Sunday, having already suffered the indignity of losing to Perth on Friday night.
The Rangers became Perth’s second victim of the season in going down 61-55 at Perry Lakes, less than two months after crushing the lowly Lynx by 46 points at Dandenong Stadium.
The visitors trailed at every change en route to an embarrassing defeat, with forwards Alison Downie (14 points) and Casey Nash (10) shouldering the scoring burden for an ice cold Ranger outfit.
Coach Dean Kinsman would have expected a response against the Lightning on Sunday, but it came only in the form of a fourth-quarter rally that reduced the final margin to 74-66.
Downie (15), Nash (12) and American pivot Ashley Lindsey (13) did the bulk of the scoring, while Adelaide stars Jess Foley (22) and Cayla Francis (18, 14 rebounds) proved a handful.
The Rangers (5-14) will be desperate to return to the winners’ list when they host the AIS (0-18) at Aurora Sports Stadium in Hobart on Friday night.
They will also be keen to impress in their second ‘home’ game in Tasmania this season, after being trounced by Sydney in Devonport last year.
