Pooling resources for learning centre

THE City of Casey is supporting the redevelopment of the former Doveton Heights primary school site by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, by selling part of the council-owned Doveton Pool in the Park.
Part of the Doveton Regeneration Project, the redevelopment of the school site will involve establishing a new school with funding from the State Government and a private benefactor.
Casey mayor Lorraine Wreford said the City of Casey was pleased to support the project, which would result in a range of positive outcomes for the local community.
“The City of Casey is a strong supporter of the Doveton Regeneration Project,” councillor Wreford said.
“The new Doveton Learning Centre will not only expand the educational opportunities available to Casey’s children, but a range of other family services to be co-located on the site will enhance the community’s access to other vital community facilities.”
Cr Wreford said the council’s intention was to redevelop the Doveton Pool in the Park with funds obtained from the sale.
“Doveton Pool in the Park is already a well loved and popular community facility and we will consult with local residents to ensure we create an even better facility that the whole community can continue to enjoy,” she said.
“In the meantime, the City of Casey is excited about the prospect of a new state-of-the-art school and a brighter future for the children and families of Doveton.”
