Few results from washout matches

By Gavin Staindl
IT WAS the type of day Dandenong and District Cricket Association officials have been praying for.
As the rain clouds passed revealing a blue sky and a warm sun, the DDCA cricketers got back down to business on Saturday to complete the second day of the two-dayer.
Although hampered by the task of making up for lost overs from last weekend’s washout, some matches still managed a result.

Turf One

@BT Sub Sport News:HALLAM-KALORA PARK v
KEYSBOROUGH

MANAGING only 10 overs last Saturday before the rain set in, Hallam-Kalora Park crushed any chance of a result on Saturday as they batted for the heavy majority at Keysborough Reserve.
Cory Booth made 56 as the visitors finally declared for 7/186, leaving Keysborough with only 18 overs to catch the total.
As expected, they fell well short, finishing on 2/64.

@BT Sub Sport News:
BUCKLEY RIDGES v DOVETON

IN SIMILAR circumstances to the Hallam-Keysborough match, Doveton enjoyed the chance to bat out the day at Park Oval without worrying about the result.
In total, Doveton batted for 77 overs before declaring at 8/261, leaving Buckley with a paltry seven overs to enjoy a hit. Making the most of batting against last year’s premiers was Ryan Hendy who finished the day on 114 not out while Matthew Goodwright took 5/63 for Buckley.

@BT Sub Sport News:SPRINGVALE SOUTH v
MORDIALLOC

CHASING 120 in 39 overs didn’t appear to be an easy task, but Springvale South did it comfortably in the end, securing first innings points with five overs left at Parkdale Secondary College.
Mordialloc were in control early in the day at 0/60, but Springvale South’s Suranjith Silva (5/39) and Jarrod Armitage (4/16) wrestled back the momentum to bowl the visitors out for 119.
Faced with 39 overs to reach the target, a collective effort by Springvale’s batters ensured they passed the figure with five wickets in hand. PARKFIELD v ST MARY’S
PARKFIELD coach Steven Spoljaric has continued his solid start to the season as his team defeated St Mary’s by seven wickets at Parkfield Reserve.
In reply to St Mary’s 189, Spoljaric made 88 not out, backing up his 70 from the previous match as Parkfield reached 3/207 from only 32 overs.
