THE second annual ‘Take a Swing for Charity’ event was a hole-in-one.
Run by the City of Greater Dandenong, the golf event was held on Monday at Sandhurst Club, Skye, to raise money for disability support organisation Wallara.
The tally had not been confirmed but SEMMA executive officer Paul Dowling was confident the $50,000 target had been reached.
“To come up with that sort of money from the business community, the day was a great success,” Mr Dowling said.
The golf event was opened by Greater Dandenong Mayor Roz Blades, who was helped in her speech by Andrew from Wallara.
Wallara provided about five people to help out on the day.
“The day was held with a great amount of fun,” Mr Dowling said.
It was followed by a dinner and charity auction.
He said all items were sold in the auction and the last item was nothing and it still raised $400.
Money raised will be used to fund three designated projects in Wallara’s high-needs area.
