A FERNTREE Gully man who killed a Sri-Lankan refugee in a hit and run in 2009 has been jailed for eight years.
Jarrett Swan hit Thiruvadivel Sriskantharajah as he was walking across a pedestrian crossing on Stud Road, Dandenong, at 8.45am on 14 January 2009 and failed to stop at the accident.
Police arrested Swan two hours later on Huntingdale Road, near the Monash Freeway and his car was seized.
Swan was found guilty of culpable driving and failure to stop and render assistance after an accident at a sentence hearing on Friday.
He was jailed for eight years, with a minimum term of six years before being eligible for parole.
His licence was cancelled and he was disqualified from driving for seven years.
