Friends help out to drop the habit

AN ALCOHOL and Drug Peer Support group has started in Noble Park.
The support group is run by Windana Drug and Alcohol Recovery at the Paddy O’Donaghue Centre every Wednesday.
Facilitator Annett Butters said the group was a unique mixture of people of all ages, with different substance issues and at different stages of recovery.
“The participants have an opportunity to learn from each other and feel confident that they are helping others within the group,” Ms Butters said.
“Although the structure of the group is informal the dynamics can be powerful, providing valuable tools necessary for the addiction healing process.”
Windana also runs successful peer group support meetings in St Kilda.
Ms Butters said she encouraged anyone who felt they may benefit from the group to drop in for a session. The session is held in function room 3 at Paddy O’Donaghue Centre, 18-34 Buckley Street, Noble Park, on Wednesday at 11am to 12.30pm.
