GREATER Dandenong’s Relay For Life raised close to $60,000 on the weekend.
Local residents walked around the Sandown Park Greyhound Track to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and to support those battling the disease.
It is the third year the Greater Dandenong region has taken part in the event and 28 teams completed the relay over 24 hours.
Greater Dandenong Relay For Life committee member, and team member of The Lacotas’ Slip Slop Slapsters, Marita Lacota said around 1000 people attended the relay and energy was high.
The team with the highest fundraising was the Sporting Shooters who raised over $1000, followed by Anna Maria’s Angels and the Enchanted Walkers.
