Victim in coma

A MAN is in an induced coma after a crash in Springvale on the weekend.
An ambulance was called to the intersection of Princes Highway and Police Road just after 11pm on Sunday after a 25-year-old man crashed his car into a concrete power pole.
Two passengers were in the car at the time.
The driver suffered serious head injuries and paramedics put him in an induced coma at the scene.
“The driver had a cut to the forehead and bruising and swelling around his eyes and may have a fractured skull,” Ambulance Victoria spokesman Andrew Watson said.
Mr Watson said placing the man into an induced coma allowed paramedics to insert a breathing tube and take over his breathing.
The man was taken to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition.
A 24-year-old male back seat passenger was taken to Dandenong Hospital with a minor shoulder injury.
A third passenger was not injured.
The front passenger door took the full impact of the collision and was pushed in but no-one was in the seat.
