SPRINGVALE White Eagles and Dandenong Thunder both had resounding victories in the Victorian Premier League over the weekend, but last weekend’s win was special for one team in particular.
After months of depleting losses and draws, Springvale finally won its first game in the Premier League with a 4-1 thrashing of Richmond at White Eagles Stadium.
Twice in the last three weeks the White Eagles have led only to cough up the lead late in the game, but there was no sign of choking on Friday night as the Eagles poured on late goals.
Goran Zoric was good for two goals on either side of the half-time whistle as Zoran Vukas sealed the match 10 minutes out from injury time with the Eagles’ fourth goal.
Dandenong Thunder, meanwhile, continues to do what it does best – winning.
The Thunder won their fifth game on the weekend with a 3-1 win over Northcote City at John Cain Memorial.
Luke Sherbon, Chris Taylor and Jack Hingert were all recipients of a three-goal last half that boosted Dandenong two points clear on top of the Premier League ladder.
