Man hurt in tree car smash

A CRASH in Noble Park last week has left a man with serious facial injuries.
The man crashed his car into a tree on the corner of Pamela Street and Railway Parade just before 7pm on Tuesday 23 August.
Sergeant Brett Shenton of Springvale police said the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree.
“There was major damage to the car, particularly the engine bay, and he had to be cut out,” Sgt Shenton said.
Intensive care paramedic David Kervin said the ambulance crew arrived to find the man trapped in the drivers’ seat by the steering wheel.
“When we arrived he was unconscious but, thankfully, he came-to as we treated him and worked to get him out,” Mr Kervin said.
“With the help of local CFA rescue crews it took about 45 minutes to free him.”
Police blocked the road for around one hour while crews cleared the area.
The man was taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition with facial injuries and pain through his collarbones, chest and pelvis.
“He had serious facial injures and damage to his mouth. He had a cut and swelling around his right eye and bleeding from his nostrils,” Mr Kervin said.
“He also had pain through both of his collarbones, chest and pelvis but thankfully he could move and feel all of his limbs.”
Sgt Shenton said the police would be conduction ongoing inquiries to determine the cause of the accident.
