A DANDENONG primary school principal is reminding parents to speak to their children about stranger danger after a disturbing incident at the school last month.
Three girls were sitting in the school grounds of Dandenong West Primary School during recess on 2 September when they saw a man on Jones Road expose himself to them.
Principal Beverley Hansen said the incident was reported to police and the school had also reminded the students about safety.
“The incident was reported to the principal and the principal then reported it to police,” she said.
“We also followed up with numerous reminders and lessons that, if for any reason, a child was suspicious inside or outside school to let someone know.
“Children need to be as safe as they can be.”
Ms Hansen said parents don’t need to be alarmed by the incident but it was a reminder to discuss stranger danger.
“Parents don’t need to be alarmed, just responsible,” she said.
“Parents need to be speaking to their children about not talking to strangers and if they are approached by a stranger to walk away and report it to someone.”
Police are investigating the obscene exposure and have released a FACE image of the man they wish to speak to.
It is believed the man exposed himself while standing outside the school grounds on Jones Road at 11.15am before running along Jones Road and onto Birdwood Avenue.
He was described as Caucasian, 50 to 60 years old and medium build with wrinkles on his cheeks.
He was wearing jeans, a purple T-shirt and a blue swimming cap.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
