STUDENTS from a Keysborough secondary school had added stress during their Year 12 Literature exam after discovering they had studied the wrong text all year.
Literature students at Lighthouse Christian College had studied Julia Leigh’s ‘The Hunter’ but the novel was not on the prescribed reading list.
The mistake was uncovered when the students sat the exam last Thursday and could not find The Hunter on the exam paper.
The school notified the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), which sets and oversee VCE exams, of the error.
A spokesperson from the VCAA said they were looking into the incident but no students would be disadvantaged by the mistake.
“It does happen occasionally that schools teach the wrong text to students,” he said.
“Schools notify VCAA and we have established processes for dealing with these situations.”
“Our process ensures that no students are disadvantaged and that they receive a fair assessment for what they have done.”
Lighthouse Christian College did not respond before the Star went to print.
