THREE generations of photographers dominated in the Dandenong Show’s photography awards this month.
Paul Lucas, his daughter Rochelle, 34, and grand-daughter Bracha, 10, snagged a total of 27 awards at the show, after entering 39 photographs between them.
Paul, 70, said the two girls weren’t able to attend the show but they were all pleased with the wins.
“It is lovely that the three generations get to carry on this little tradition,” the Rowville resident said.
“I received 17 awards from 24 entries, Rochelle received six awards from eight entries and Bracha received four awards from seven entries.”
Paul said Bracha was particularly excited because she received her first digital camera on her 10th birthday in April and was already winning awards.
Paul also won ‘Champion’ (overall best in show) and the People’s Choice award and Rochelle won ‘Reserve Champion’ (second best in show).
This was the second successful year for the Lucas family, who left their mark on the competition when Paul, Rochelle and another grand-daughter, Nechama, entered a combined 14 photographs and took home 11 awards last year.
“My daughter, myself and my other grand-daughter entered last year and we’ve expanded on it from there,” Paul said.
“We are all very pleased!”
With 10 grandchildren, who all receive a digital camera for their 10th birthday, there might be even more competition next year.
