WHEN VCE student Jahziel decided to lose her locks for leukaemia, she had the entire student body of Carwatha College P-12 behind her.
The Year 12 student shaved her head on Tuesday for the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greater Shave and raised more than $300 for the cause.
Assistant Principal Linda Stanton said she was a student leader with a community focus.
“When Jahziel approached us, we thought it was a great idea and great community event,” Mr Stanton said.
“She is very community minded and felt this was a way she could raise money for the foundation so she put herself forward.”
Ms Stanton said Jahziel wasn’t just shaving her head in support of anyone she knew with cancer but was doing it for all people with cancer.
“Every single person in the community is touched by cancer, not just our school community,” she said.
“We all know somebody or something touched by cancer.”
The school got behind Jahziel by holding lunch time activities including a fairy floss stall, crazy hair day and a celebration assembly.
“It was a beautiful assembly with a lot of student based activities,” Ms Stanton said.
“The students were 100 per cent behind her.”
