Sharing the stats around, the best of the Rangers was Ben Gaze (21 points, 12 rebounds) and John Creighton (17 points) while Kayne Ewin (10 points, 16 rebounds) attained a double-double.
In the preceding women’s season opener, Dandenong’s usual suspects made light work of the Diamond Valley Eagles, winning 80-48. Rangers star development players of recent years Georgi Lovelace (16 points, five rebounds), Emma Gilsenan (13 points) and Bridget Deery (12 points) all hit the scoreboard while former Big V Melbourne Tiger Geraldine McCorkell (13 points, seven rebounds) fit in to the Dandenong set-up with ease as coach Brad Wright rotated his charges around in the thrashing.
Dandenong will face Eltham in the men’s competition on Saturday while the women square off with Bendigo on Sunday.
