Premier Cricket – round 15 (week two)

A DOGGED innings from Brett Forsyth was the only shining light of a lacklustre day for Dandenong (133) chasing Melbourne Uni (8/314).
Melbourne Uni, fighting to leapfrog Dandenong en route to the top eight, tore through Dandenong piece by piece as wickets fell rapidly.
Tom Donnell (13) was out early to Steve Reid (4/34), leaving the scoring to Charith Cooray (19) and Forsyth to knock in a 45-run partnership.
Forsyth (52) notched his half-century – his first since his 153 against Essendon in November – but once he fell at 3/97, the wheels truly fell off the Panthers’ wagon.
Next bowler up to the mark to terrorise the Panthers was Victorian and Australian representative Fawad Ahmed (4/54), who put Dandenong through the ringer by sending four Panthers back to the pavilion. You couldn’t keep Ahmed out of the match as he rattled off a throw to run out Cameron Forsyth (28), the next best score besides his older brother.
From 3/121, the remaining scalps were taken cleanly by Melbourne to see off 7/12 and leave Dandenong all out for 133.
Dandenong sits six points outside the top eight in 13th place and will need to pick up the points against second placed Footscray-Edgewater to remain in finals contention.
