Top policies for future

WITH the Federal Election announced for 14 September last week, campaigning is set to pick up in the Greater Dandenong area.
Bruce Labor MP Alan Griffin said the coming months would see the government deliver important policies as part of its plan for the future.
“Our Industry and Innovation Statement will deliver on jobs, today and into the future,” he said.
“The National Disability Insurance Scheme will provide security and independence for some of the most vulnerable in society.
“Our National School Improvement Plan will see standards rise in all our schools, allowing our children to secure the high paid, high skilled jobs of the future.
“These are key issues facing not only the nation, but also our local community.”
His Liberal opponent Emanuele Cicchiello said he was constantly meeting people under financial pressure from rising electricity and gas costs stemming from the Carbon Tax.
“Job security is another sensitive issue as the manufacturing companies in Dandenong come under pressure from rising costs,” he said.
Mr Cicchiello said there was a major lack of confidence in business, and local traders were suffering as families cut back on spending to keep up with their bills.
“I will continue to visit local groups and door knock in the area,” he said.
“My goal is to be visible and accessible to the community.”
The Bruce electorate includes Dandenong North, Noble Park North and parts of Dandenong, Noble Park and Springvale.
Also covering Greater Dandenong are the electorates of Hotham (Springvale South and parts of Keysborough, Noble Park and Springvale) and Isaacs (Dandenong South, Keysborough and parts of Noble Park).
Minister Simon Crean has been the Hotham representative since 1990 and new Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus is the current Isaacs MP.
