Thumbs up for food fare

Crowds will enjoy entertainment from around the world.

FAMOUS foodie Matt Preston has spruiked the Dandenong World Fare as his top pick event of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
The food critic, writer and TV presenter’s recommendation is a boost for the free Dandenong Market event, to be held on Sunday 3 March.
Stallholders and food vans will fill the merchandise hall and market square and market vendors will serve plates of traditional tastes from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
There’ll be traditional Lebanese pizzas and parcels of pastry filled with warm spinach and cheese, freshly-made authentic Turkish Gozleme, Kransky sausages and Serbian bureks, Singaporean-style satays, baklava, baked pies and shish kebabs, traditional tea from Afghan Tea Cart and more.
Dandenong Market’s resident chef Russell Bald will be on hand at The Kitchen, leading cooking demonstrations and working with stallholders to showcase their favourite dishes created from market produce.
Alongside the culinary experiences will be entertainment from Tumbarumba, Systa BB, the Massive Hip Hop Choir, Le Soul, Jhoom Bollywood Dance Company, and The Scatter, Scatter Sound System.
The events are on from 11am to 4pm. A shuttle service will operate between the market and Dandenong railway station.
