A DANDENONG man received a knock on his door to tell him his fence was on fire about 10.30pm on 27 June.
The man went outside his Scott Street home to find flames about 20 centimetres high and an orange liquid at the base of the fire, believed to be an accelerant.
He doused the blaze with a bucket of water.
There was only minor damage to the metal fence.
