FAMILY violence unit police can make discrete visits thanks to a new car from the council.
City of Greater Dandenong last week handed Dandenong Inspector Bruce Kitchen the keys to one of its lease vehicles.
“It’s an unmarked car,” Insp Kitchen said.
“With our family violence area, some people are sensitive to a marked police car.
“We need discretion in some areas.”
He said officers could use the car to visit victims and for surveillance.
Mayor Jim Memeti said this was the second car the council had donated for police use.
“It’s a good to contribute in a way that will help the force and people in our community,” he said.
“This is an ongoing partnership that the City of Greater Dandenong has with the local Victoria Police in our area.”
