THE council may move its Springvale customer service centre out of the civic precinct to save money.
Councillor Peter Brown moved a motion to look for an alternative site at last Monday’s City of Greater Dandenong meeting.
He asked that the council defer converting the former Springvale Council Chambers into a customer service centre and for councillors to receive a report on the options in April.
The report is set to include a cost-benefit analysis of using Springvale Library, the Springvale Council Chambers or leasing a property in the Springvale CBD.
“The needs of the customer service centre are smaller than a coffee shop,” Cr Brown said.
“Alternatives need to be reappraised.”
