CITY of Greater Dandenong is turning to cutting-edge technology to connect with more residents.
Councillor Matthew Kirwan last year asked for a report on opportunities for using web and smart phone applications to engage with the people that its current practices were missing.
He said this included young people who naturally turned to online resources, people working full time looking for convenience, and the mobility impaired.
The report recommended the council consider allocating $30,000 in the budget for “an online collaborative tool” and promote the Snap Send Solve application.
The app allows people to photograph issues that need council attention and fill in relevant details.
Cr Kirwan said this cut out the need for officers to take and transcribe notes from residents, saving their time and facilitating faster action.
