BUSINESSES joined with Noble Park students last week to help improve their employment opportunities.
Carwatha College P-12 welcomed 28 community partners to the college to run a Mock Interview Pathways event last Thursday, 22 May.
Students in Year 10 and the Year 11 and 12 VCAL program prepared resumes and job applications before the event, and discussed interview techniques and attire.
It was many students’ first interview experience.
Daniel said he was more excited than nervous and learned a lot.
“It was a unique experience to sit down with a real person and get interviewed,” he said.
Sara was very nervous the night before.
“I practised my words and thought hard before and made sure I came fully prepared,” she said.
“My interviewer was Monika Emerson, she was lovely and made me feel welcome.
“I gained confidence in my speaking. Overall it was a great experience.”
Nevena wasn’t nervous beforehand.
“However, when I started talking to the interviewer it became quite scary,” she said.
“I loved the experience and got a few pointers on what to put in my resume.”
Organisations involved included RACV, City of Greater Dandenong, Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust, Noble Park Rotary and LINK Employment.
