ABOUT 50 die-hard supporters, councillors and police flocked pre-dawn for a screening of yesterday’s World Cup final live on Dandenong civic square’s big screen.
Most supporters – some decked in Dandenong Wolves club regalia – could be classified as neutrals.
They huddled together on chairs, warmed by portable gas heaters and hot drinks, kebabs and poffertjes as Germany and Argentina remained deadlocked until late extra time.
It was not until the 113th minute that lone German supporter Ian Godfrey, replete with facial war-paint, could lustily celebrate the winning goal.
