A KEYSBOROUGH school is matching minds with the best of them.
Mt Hira College this year entered a team in Tournament of Minds for the first time.
It’s a national problem-solving competition for primary and secondary school students.
Teams solve demanding, open-ended challenges in applied technology, language literature, maths engineering or social sciences.
The Mt Hira team received an honours award in the primary school division for applied technology.
“We were in the top four schools for the whole of the metropolitan central region and there were hundreds of schools competing,” principal Patricia Gay said.
“This is a huge achievement for a relatively small school.”
The aim of Tournament of Minds is to help young people develop diverse skills, enterprise, time management, and the discipline to work collaboratively within a challenging and competitive environment, to enhance their potential.
