POLICE are searching for thieves who towed a $90,000 excavator from a Dandenong South work site.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Rick Mokos said thieves struck the Eddison Road block about 2.30am on Sunday 10 April.
He said the eight-tonne Takeuchi-brand excavator was subsequently located on a vacant block in Menzies Creek.
It was seen on the back of a purple-coloured five-tonne tow truck, Det Sen Const Mokos said, which police also recovered.
He urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
