Highway robbers on the run

A ROBBERY trio struck three times in 24 hours in Dandenong, police believe.
The investigators from Operation Cosmas – aimed at combating a rise in burglaries and car-jackings – are appealing for public help to identify those responsible.
They’ve been told that a man was walking home along Mason Street about 5.25am on Tuesday 24 May when three men approached and demanded he hand over his valuables.
The victim tried to run away but the trio chased him down and assaulted him.
They stole his bank card, mobile phone and a small amount of money.
Police believe the same group was possibly involved in two more incidents the following morning.
They’ve been told that a man was walking south on Thomas Street about 4.35am on Wednesday 25 May when three men threatened him and demanded his wallet and phone.
The victim refused, and the offenders punched him in the face, but he escaped.
Shortly after, about 4.40am, two men armed with knuckle dusters approached another man walking south along Thomas Street.
Without speaking to the victim, the men punched him in the face and head, stole his phone, cash and a distinctive red and black backpack.
The three men are perceived to be of African appearance.
Investigators have released an image and CCTV of two men they believe could assist with their inquiries.
Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report to www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
