Springvale’s last mayor dies

The former City of Springvale’s last mayor Eric Mitchell has died.
The City of Greater Dandenong will fly its flags at half-mast on Monday 27 June in his honour.
He passed away peacefully on Saturday 18 June after a brief illness, aged 88.
Mr Mitchell was a City of Springvale councillor from 1991 until amalgamations in 1994, was the Westall Primary School principal from 1980 to 1987 and was president of the Noble Park English Language School council for more than 20 years.
Mr Mitchell and his wife Merle have lived in Greater Dandenong since 1961 and both made significant contributions to the area.
