Three thieves forced their way into a Dandenong home and held up the occupant at knifepoint.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Tony Lavars said the incident occurred in Grandview Avenue about 10pm on Thursday 25 August.
He said the victim, 30, heard a noise at the front door and assumed it was his partner.
He opened the door, and three men, described as African in appearance and aged in their late teens, barged inside.
Det Sen Const Lavars said one man held the victim at knifepoint while the other two searched the home’s bottom floor.
The trio then took the victim upstairs, punched him in the mouth and ransacked a living room.
He suffered swelling and lacerations to his lip.
From the garage they stole a grey or silver Honda Accord with registration plate WUB881 and left the scene.
Det Sen Const Lavars said they also stole mobile phones, a laptop, and a wallet with cash and cards to the value of about $2500.
He urged anyone with information about the incident or who had seen the car since the incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
