Crash causes chaos on bypass

By Casey Neill

A collision between two cars and a truck landed a woman in hospital and caused hours of traffic chaos on the Dandenong Bypass on Wednesday 31 August.
Greater Dandenong Highway Patrol Sergeant Darren Barnard said the incident occurred about 7.40am.
“The drivers are very lucky to get away with only minor injuries,” he said.
Sgt Barnard said a 29-year-old Bayswater North woman was travelling west, away from Dandenong, on the Dandenong Bypass in Keysborough.
He said she was near Perry Road and moving slowly due to slow-moving traffic in front of her when another vehicle struck hers from behind.
The other car impacted hers on the driver’s side and sent her left across two lanes of traffic.
A large truck travelling in the left lane braked hard but struck the wayward vehicle’s passenger side.
Sgt Barnard said the driver was trapped for a brief period and taken to Dandenong Hospital for treatment for minor injuries.
He said westbound Dandenong Bypass lanes were closed for about two hours.
