And the dance goes on

Dancers will reunite in Dandenong to reminisce about their days with McPherson Dance Studio.
“The principles Jack and Edna McPherson will be attending the day,” organiser Greg Wade said.
“Wouldn’t surprise me if they bring their dance shoes … ”
The husband and wife team, who met through dancing, closed their Robinson Street dance school in early 2004.
They’d taught social dancing and trained thousands of students for examinations and debutante events since opening in 1967.
Mr McPherson said at the time that his body had “just worn out”.
Julie Duck will be attending the reunion, as will her brother Phillip.
“Greg and Phillip started if off, organising a reunion,” she said.
“They said ‘we don’t want to have to come together with these people at someone’s funeral’.
“It’s got a bit bigger than Ben Hur.
“It’s amazing the amount of people that have come in and said ‘we’ll be there’.”
Ms Duck said Jack and Edna were “the centre of our universe for a long, long time”.
“If we weren’t at the dancing studio we were at home,” she said.
“Everybody felt safe there and we just had the best time.
“I started there when I was 16, I think, and I danced for 35-odd years.
“I did my debut through them, did all the medals, I did some competition dancing.”
The McPhersons also taught her two daughters to dance.
“We owe a lot of what we are today to Jack and Edna,” she said.
The reunion will take place at Dandenong RSL, 44-50 Clow Street, Dandenong, from noon to 4pm on Sunday 20 November.
Attendees are invited to arrive early for lunch and stay on for dinner.
