Man punched, jaw broken

A Dandenong man suffered a broken jaw when several men attacked him outside Dandenong Magistrates’ Court.
Police said the victim, aged in his late thirties, was talking on his phone as he walked from the court along Pultney Street about 2.10pm on Wednesday 15 February.
It’s alleged he made a racist comment to a friend on the other end of the call, and a group of men of Islander appearance overheard.
Police said they took offence, confronted the man, and punched him from behind as he walked back towards the court.
The victim fell to the ground and his attackers fled on foot.
He walked back to the court and reported the incident, and was taken to Dandenong Hospital with a broken jaw.
Police appealed for anyone with information about the assault to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
