A passer-by thwarted a Dandenong man’s attempt to steal a broken-down motorbike from the roadside.
Frontline Tactical Unit police responded to a call regarding the incident on the Dandenong Bypass about 10.30am on Saturday 26 August.
A member of the public told police they’d seen a man trying to put the motorcycle in his car and passed on the registration.
Police traced the information back to an address in Tarene Street, Dandenong, and arrested a 49-year-old Dandenong man.
A search of the property allegedly uncovered three firearms, stolen goods, money and number plates.
The man was remanded in custody on charges of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, attempted theft of a motorcycle and handling stolen goods.
