Car theft victim punched for refusing to hand over keys

A man has been punched for refusing to hand over his keys before having his car stolen in a Keysborough robbery.
The 27-year-old Springvale man was outside a house in Festival Crescent on the evening of 17 September when a white car pulled up and a passenger approached him.
The robber demanded the victim’s car keys and wallet. The victim was hit when he refused.
“The victim was punched twice to the head and dropped his phone and keys and the other male took them,” Detective Sergeant Craig West said.
The attacker took the victim’s silver Subaru Impresa and left him with minor grazes to his fingers and a cut to his bottom lip.
Police describe the attacker as being in his early 20s, with short dark hair and facial hair, and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
