Echo Taskforce raids arrest 12

Echo Taskforce detectives arrested 12 people and seized drugs, cash and weapons during warrants across Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs this week.

The warrants were executed with assistance from Dandenong Divisional Response Unit as part of an investigation into an alleged drug trafficking syndicate.

On Tuesday, 21 May warrants were executed at eight properties in Keysborough, Cranbourne North, Springvale South, Mulgrave and Dandenong North.

Nine people, including seven men and two women, were arrested and charged with a range of drug, weapons and proceeds of crime offences.

Six of those faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court with three remanded in custody and the other three bailed to appear again at a later date.

Two were bailed by police to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

One person was interviewed in relation to drug offences and is expected to be charged on summons at a later date.

Drugs, including heroin, methamphetamines and cannabis, as well as what’s believed to be pre-cursor chemicals, were seized.

Other items including cash, a motorcycle, jewellery and prohibited weapons including pistols and conducted energy devices were also seized.

On Thursday, 23 May warrants were executed at four properties in Narre Warren South, Dandenong North and Springvale South.

Three men were arrested and charged with drug offences, while a quantity of cash was also seized.

All three faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court with one remanded in custody and two bailed to appear at a later date.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information about illegal drug trafficking is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
