Teens accused of attempted cop car-jacking

Two teenagers have been arrested over a one-night spree of alleged aggravated burglaries and an attempted car jacking of an unmarked police car in Keysborough.

The pair from Noble Park, aged 17 and 19, are accused of entering a home while armed with a weapon in Annabelle Boulevard about 1.30am on Thursday 11 December.

Four occupants, including eight-year-old and four-year-old children, were not injured nor confronted by the intruders, police say.

The teens stole car keys and fled in a vehicle that police believe to be stolen.

Ten minutes later, the teens allegedly tried to enter a home in Keylana Drive.

At 1.50am they successfully got into a neighbouring house, police say.

Seven occupants were in the address at the time. The teens confronted a 66-year-old and a 70-year-old and demanded car keys.

They fled in the same vehicle.

Uniform police officers in the unmarked police vehicle responded to the reported intrusions.

They came a stop behind a stopped vehicle on Red Brush Drive about 2am.

Police say the teens got out of the car and approached the police vehicle’s driver.

They unsuccessfully tried to carjack the vehicle, and then fled in the other car.

After a short pursuit, the teens’ car was halted by stop sticks in Corrigan Road Noble Park about 2.13am.

They fled on foot and were arrested in Theodore Drive.

The pair were questioned by police, and expected to face court on 11 December.
