Trucks crash on Monash Freeway

By Cameron Lucadou-Wells

A DRIVER was trapped in his cabin after two trucks crashed on the EastLink off-ramp onto the Monash Freeway about 7am this morning.

Ambulance Victoria spokesman Paul Bentley said the driver was freed and taken to Dandenong Hospital with minor injuries.

ConnectEast spokesman Peter De Luca said traffic was being diverted around the two trucks and onto the ramp’s grass verge.

He said the speed limit on EastLink near the scene had been reduced to 60km/h, which has caused delays for traffic between Wellington Road and Monash Freeway.

‘‘There are minor delays but traffic is still flowing. We’d ask drivers to not stop or slow down to take a look, which can potentially make the situation worse.’’

He said ‘‘heavy haulage’’ was on the scene to clear the trucks.
