Easter south-east rail shutdown

Rail services between Cranbourne and Dandenong will be shut down for nine days over Easter during a maintenance blitz by the state government.

Buses will replace trains during replacement works of points, signalling, overhead wiring and sleepers.

Transport Minister Terry Mulder said the work was equivalent to a year’s maintenance regime.

The short time-frame would save $2.7 million, which would go to further maintenance and renewal projects, he said.
