SEJFL: Sharks in search for juniors

By Roy Ward

NORTH Dandenong Junior Football Club needs more players ahead of the upcoming South East Junior Football League season.

The Sharks are short of players in their under-9s, under-10s and under-12 sides and their under-14 side looks unlikely to take the field.

Club president Sean Dwyer said his club was family oriented and focused primarily on offering young players a fun introduction to team sports.

“Our main goal to make sure the kids enjoy themselves,” he said. “This season we are also bringing in a few other activities for the kids, including some colouring competitions and things like that – it’s not just about footy.”

Dwyer said the Sharks’ playing fees were cheap compared to other clubs and club officials also made sure playing shorts and socks were kept to the price the club paid for them.

He said under-9 to under-10 players’ fees were $70 for a 14-game season while under-12s paid a little more for their season.

The Sharks train each Wednesday and Friday at Lois Twohig Reserve, Dandenong North, from 5-6pm with the season starting on April 22.
