Two Endeavour Hills men and a Hallam-based shoe retail chain have been fined a state record $220,000 for underpaying their staff.
The Federal Magistrates Court found the Henna Group Pty Ltd, which operated Scarpe Shoes stores at Chadstone and Fountain Gate and a Hallam warehouse, deliberately underpaid four staff by $16,036 in 2009-10.
Federal magistrate Grant Riethmuller fined the company $160,000, and its group manager Sahil Rasul and sole director and owner Bulbula Amin, both of Endeavour Hills, were each fined $30,000.
