Shadow brings a smile

By TARA McGRATH

IF your child is intrigued by the nature of shadows, then a production coming to Dandenong is sure to fascinate.

Me and My Shadow will be performed at the Drum Theatre in Lonsdale Street, and it’s a show that can be enjoyed by anyone of any age, allowing families to enter a fanciful world of giant creatures, storytelling, magic and illusion.

The production cleverly uses paper, light, shadow, colour, water, music, sound and words to tell the story of a young girl discovering her shadow and the journey they take to become friends.

Me and My Shadow features lovely imagery and quirky performances, and is certain to ignite the imaginations of children. It also aims to evoke all the magic and mystery that shadows do in a young child’s mind.

The show won the Helpmann Award in 2011 for best presentation for children. It was also nominated for a 2011 Sydney Theatre Award for best production for children.

Me and My Shadow will be performed on Friday, June 1 at 10am and 1pm at Drum Theatre, Lonsdale Street, Dandenong. Tickets are $15. Tickets for a family of four cost $50. Bookings: 9771 6666.
