Dandenong Council cleaning staff extend work bans to turf cricket pitches

GREATER Dandenong Council workers have extended stop work bans to turf cricket pitches, halting local cricket action this weekend.

At a rally of about 200 staff outside the council’s Dandenong offices this afternoon, workers were told by Australian Services Union to ‘‘hold the line’’ and vote down the council’s 3.5 per cent pay offer.

With the vote scheduled in two weeks, the ASU vowed to continue work bans on emptying street bins and mowing lawns up to that time.
