AS the Journal’s eagle-eyed photographer Gary Sissons quipped: maybe you do need to be a rocket scientist to get into politics.

Greater Dandenong Council candidate Geraldine Gonsalvez played down her involvement in an eye-catching placement for her election placard on top of a rocket in a Bangholme front yard.

She said she asked the owner if she could put up the sign. He responded that he’d put it up on the rocket.

There’s no question Ms Gonsalvez is ‘fired up’ for the election. During this month’s campaign, she’s been a regular presence with her how-to-vote cards outside the Victorian Electoral Commission’s temporary headquarters in Dandenong.
