A film created by school children in comic-drawing workshops in Springvale has been nominated for an Australian Teachers of Media award.
The film Springvale Children’s Stories was nominated in the short documentary category in the awards, which recognised the best films in the education sector in Australia and New Zealand.
Pupils from Heatherhill, St Joseph’s and Spring Park primary schools attended the six-month workshop with artist-in-residence Sarah Firth.
It was part of a Greater Dandenong Council’s program Face-to-Face, designed to build acceptance in Springvale. The entry can be seen at atomawards.org.
