Six men remanded over armed robbery spree

SIX men have been charged and remanded in police custody over a spate of armed robberies at gaming venues and post offices in the south eastern suburbs.

The men were arrested in Springvale yesterday and have been charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary, following robberies in recent months in suburbs including Keysborough and Clayton.

The men – Heiman Robati, 18, and Luke Panetta, 29, both of Clayton South; Toukura Kura, 18, and Tearorangi Tuua, 22, both of Springvale South; Scott Watson, 23, of Wheelers Hill; and Gerry Di Paolo, 39, from Clarinda – will appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court today.

A 16-year-old Clayton South boy was also charged with the same offences and will appear at a children’s court tomorrow.

A 23-year-old Clayton man was still assisting police with their enquiries.
