A tolled overpass has been proposed to divert heavy traffic from the Abbotts Road level crossing in Dandenong South. The Committee for Dandenong group says a ‘missing link’ connecting Remington Drive and Pound Road would make the level crossing safer and reduce road rage from gridlocked traffic. A train was derailed in a collision with a truck at the level crossing in November, killing one of the train’s passengers. The committee is set to discuss the issue with VicRoads and Greater Dandenong Council.
