Police arrested a man in Dandenong on Friday over alleged fraudulent demands for money and have appealed for information from the public on the matter.
It is believed the man approached the woman about 6.30pm last Tuesday after she had left her vehicle in a shopping centre car park and used verbal threats to coerce money from her.
Police said money was handed over to the man the following day and further arrangements were made by him to receive more cash from the woman.
Police swooped about 8.40am Friday and arrested a 42-year-old Dandenong South man, who is assisting the officers.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have information related to this or other incidents to call Crime Stoppers, 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au.
